THE VAULT - RESEACH - ARCHIVES

A place to deepen understanding—research, reflection, and learning that support the living practice.

Where we go deeper—through instruction, research, and shared material. This includes classes, written work, video lessons, and ongoing documentation of living traditions. Whether in person or online, the goal is to support understanding over time, not just information in the moment. Much of this work has already been explored through ongoing study, writing, and video, including material shared through Listening to Okinawa Karate. The intention here is to continue and expand that effort—creating a space where this work can be shared more openly through education, research, and community.

How this work is shared

The Way Dojo supports the development of educational content as part of its mission. Much of this work has been developed through independent efforts, including media produced by AVolution Productions and shared through platforms such as Listening to Okinawa Karate. Some materials may be accessed through independently operated platforms that manage access and membership separately. The Way Dojo itself does not charge for the creation of this work.

RESEARCH

Ongoing collaboration, study, writing, and documentation of living traditions.

A place to explore the practice more closely through writing, reflection, and ongoing study. This work develops over time through careful observation, questioning, and experience. It may include contributions from others who are engaged in the same process, with the aim of deepening understanding rather than collecting information.

Current research and writing projects:
  • Chotoku Kyan Lineage materials
  • Kata structure and body mechanics
  • Historical timelines
  • Forging Kata - book ( This research grows from ongoing training, observation, and study—revealing core principles of Seibukan movement such as center-based organization, connection, structure at contact, and continuous motion through practice and analysis of Okinawan karate.)

ARCHIVES

A growing collection of material for reference and deeper exploration.

A place to return to material that has been recorded and preserved over time. This includes references to existing collections and documented work, offering a way to revisit and see things more clearly as understanding develops. Some material may be accessed through external collections where this work is organized and maintained.

Seibukan Shorin-ryu video archives are currently being developed through Listening to Okinawa Karate—explore them below.
